Yoga and Art
There is an incredible feeling to create. Whether it is through traditional art (painting, photography, knitting/crochet, etc), or other forms of creativity could include baking, cooking, planning activities for our children/grandchildren, vacation planning, interior decorating and more. This moment of creativity requires us to be present, to let go, to concentrate, be focused and turn inward.
When we think of yoga, we usually think of the physical practice (Asana/Poses), however Yoga is much more than a physical practice.
Let's explore how we can practice the 8 limbs of yoga in creative art;
1. Yamas
Social ethics
Practicing self love/non-violence, kindness, and truth.
2. Niyamas
Personal practices
Exploring contentment and self-study.
3. Asana
Yoga poses/postures
4. Pranayama
Mindful breathing
Honouring the breath to uncover the light within.
5. Pratyahara
Turning inward
6. Dharana/
Concentration
7. Dhyana
De-concentration
Dropping all the efforts and letting go.
8. Samadhi
State of ultimate bliss
Feeling one with the infinite self.
Art and creativity has always been a part of my life, as far back as I can remember. Art has helped me through some rough waters in my life. Which is why I feel inspired to combine our Yoga practice with creative classes.

Blacklight Meditation/Intuitive Paint Night
Let’s tap into our inner child and celebrate Nuit Blanche with a fun filled blacklight paint night!
Friday Sept 27th
6:30pm-8:30pm
503-63 Albert Street
Cost:
$45/Person
$5 from each ticket will go to an Animal Rescue
Registration will be opening soon!
Class begins with a short introduction, followed by a short chair yoga stretch. We will then dive into a medication practice, that will continue through the painting process. Planning to attend this event with friends? (I hope so!) No worries there will be plenty of time to socialize and enjoy time together before and after the meditation painting!
The guided meditation will allow you to explore your inner child. What stops us from being creative? Can we tap into our sacral chakra to allow creativity to flow? Can we open and expand our heart chakra to receive love and and self compassion towards ourselves as we allow ourselves to let go.
Let’s explore our senses! As in all my Yoga classes, I like to offer options. A variety of options (paint brushes, sponges, and other tools) will be provided, including an option to paint with your fingers!
What to expect:
- A fun night on your own or with friends!
- A relaxed non judgemental environment
What is included:
- Square Black Canvas (for you to paint on and take home)
- Black Light Acrylic Paints, Paint brushes and all you need to create your abstract art masterpiece.
- Tea & bottled water will be served
What to bring/wear:
- Wear clothes you don’t mind getting paint on.
- If you like, bring along some snacks or beverage of your choice.
I do not have a Liquor Licence for this event, please no alcohol beverages.
